Overview
Thomas joined Marshall Dennehey in 2003 in the Health Care Liability Practice Group. His areas of practice include medical malpractice, long-term care, nursing home and dental insurance defense. Thomas has also handled multiple cases before Delaware professional regulatory boards, including the Board of Medicine, the Board of Nursing, the Board of Dentistry, the Board of Veterinary Medicine and the Board of Social Work Examiners.
Thomas has served as a faculty instructor at the University of Delaware since January 2008, where he teaches a health law module for students interested in beginning careers as legal nurse consultants. The class focuses on all aspects of health law civil litigation, from the inception of a case through discovery and its ultimate conclusion. The class also deals with federal laws and regulations, including Stark laws, HIPAA, anti-kickback, and Medicare fraud and abuse.
Thomas received his B.S.N. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing in 1998. He earned his juris doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2002. In November 2002, Thomas joined the firm of Davies, McFarland & Carroll, P.C. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as an associate in the medical/dental malpractice group.
